Tour itinerary
1. Pyramids of Giza
Prepare for an unforgettable adventure as our knowledgeable, licensed tour guide picks you up from your hotel promptly at 6:00 am. We will then travel the 220km journey to Cairo, where a day of exciting exploration awaits. Our first stop will be the magnificent Great Pyramids – including the grand structures of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinos. After marveling at these awe-inspiring feats of engineering, we will continue on to the Valley Temple, where the ancient priests mummified the beloved King Chephre. This fantastic tour will take approximately three hours to complete.
2. Great Sphinx
Don’t miss the chance to get an up-close view of one of Egypt’s most iconic guardians: The Sphinx. This legendary figure stands tall at the enormous funeral complex, boasting the body of a lion and the head of king Chephren. Spend 30 minutes taking in its grandeur and mystery.
3. Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu)
Surprisingly, the sole unscathed representation of the monarch is a delicate ivory sculpture measuring a mere three inches, discovered in a dilapidated temple ruin in Abydos nearly a century ago. The rest of the depictions, including statues, were found in fragments, while numerous constructions attributed to Khufu have vanished with time. Our knowledge of the ruler, therefore, relies solely on engravings within his resting place at Giza and subsequent manuscripts. A notable example being the Westcar Papyrus from the 13th dynasty. The entire lineage of Khufu’s reign can be gleaned within the span of just 30 minutes through this remarkable document.
4. Khafre’s Pyramid
The elaborate pyramid complex of Khafre boasts a stunning array of structures, including a breathtaking valley temple, a splendid Sphinx temple, a majestic causeway, a regal mortuary temple, and of course, the king’s very own pyramid. It was within the walls of the valley temple that numerous striking statues of Khafre were discovered. These magnificent pieces, initially brought to light by Mariette in 1860, were found within a well located beneath the temple’s floor. Over the years, further excavations by distinguished archaeologists such as Sieglin (1909-10), Junker, and Reisner have unearthed even more of these remarkable treasures, adding to the already rich history of Khafre’s reign.
5. Menkaure Pyramid
The awe-inspiring pyramid complex of Menkaure includes not only the magnificent king’s pyramid but also a valley temple, a causeway, and a mortuary temple. The valley temple itself was adorned with numerous statues of the great pharaoh. And in later centuries, during the 5th Dynasty, a smaller ante-temple was built onto the valley temple, adding even more grandeur. The mortuary temple, too, held many treasures, including several statues of Menkaure. Taking in the splendor of this complex would easily consume 30 minutes of your time.
6. The Museum of Egyptian
Experience the wonders of ancient Egypt as you embark on a fascinating day tour to the renowned Egyptian Museum of Antiquities. Behold the impressive display of the largest and most valuable collection of Egyptian art in the entire world. This unparalleled exhibition boasts over 250,000 authentic relics, some dating back 5000 years. Marvel at the exclusive showcase dedicated to the legendary Tutankhamun, featuring rare treasures, gold, and jewelry that were entombed with him for over 3,500 years until their serendipitous discovery during a 1920s excavation. This awe-inspiring experience will last for approximately 2 hours.
7. Khan Al-Khalili
Experience the vibrant atmosphere of the Khan El Khalili Bazaar as you make your way through a maze of shops, brimming with treasures such as brassware, copper, perfumes, leather, silver, gold, and antiques.
After a full day of exploring, you will be conveniently transported back to your hotel or to the port of Said.
