Discover hidden wonders and unravel the secrets concealed in this unexplored realm

Legends claim that the island’s name originated from a beautiful maiden named Aegina. She was the daughter of Asopos, the mighty river deity. The ruler of all gods, Zeus, was captivated by her charm and whisked her away to the island, bestowing its name as a tribute to her.

Despite its small size, the island of Aegina boasts a wealth of attractions and natural beauty. Its centerpiece is the renowned Aphea Temple, which forms a “holy triangle” with the Parthenon and the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion. The island’s capital, Aegina Town, showcases well-preserved architecture. Surrounding it are picturesque villages with traditional charm, including Agia Marina, Perdika, Souvala, Kypseli, Agii, and Vagia. Aegina is also surrounded by numerous islets, such as Moni, Metopi, Diaportia, Lagouses, Kyra, Dorousa, Spalathonisi, and Anonyma, which can be reached via boat from the port of Aegina.
