Day 1: Athens – Litochoro – Edessa

Departure from Athens and after intermediate stops, we will head to Edessa. Our first stop will be in Litochoro, famous for its location at the foot of mount Olympus, the highest in Greece, with the impressive massif stone volume dominating its houses and at the same time only 5 km. from the sea. Its rich history is lost in the depths of the centuries, as there was a cult center of the Muses there since ancient times, while the current city is said to have started to be created in the 14th century. In Litochoro we will see old stone houses and “captain’s houses” that bear witness to the past of the inhabitants with the sea – narrow alleys in the old, traditional settlement, centuries-old plane trees and many small squares. Arrival in the evening in Edessa, settling in our hotel, overnight.

Day 2: Edessa – Lake Agra – Vrytton – Nisiou – Kerasies – Loutra Pozar Almopia

After our breakfast, we leave for a beautiful route! We will pass by the Lake Agra-Vrytton-Nisiou, and then drive to Loutra Pozar. We will admire the amazing lake, which is an artificial lake created in 1953, in the west of the prefecture of Pella, for the needs of the PPC Hydroelectric Station. It is a beautiful wetland with many different images. The beautiful reedbeds, mazes with canals, wetlands and its inaccessible interior differentiate it from many other wetlands. Lake Agra-Vryton-Nisiou is one of the most beautiful places for walking and observing wild nature in Northern Greece!! We will stop and enjoy nature!

Then, we follow the route to the picturesque village of Kerasies. Kerasies is another village of mountainous Pella. In the center of the village there is a beautiful, traditional picturesque square, dominated by a large plane tree and surrounded by cafes and grocery stores.

We continue to Loutra Pozar. Spa fashion, in the last decade, made the Pozar thermal baths famous! The water of the baths springs at a temperature of 37°C, has many therapeutic properties and is drinkable. We will have time for a bath. Return to Edessa, overnight.

Day 3: Lake Vegoritida – Paleos Ag. Athanasios – Edessa

Today after our breakfast, we leave for Lake Begoritida, an area that has been designated as an Area of Community Interest in the European Ecological Network Natura 2000. Its steep banks are an ideal refuge for many wild birds, while its waters host many fish. We will continue to Agios Athanasios. Visitors, who choose Palio Agios Athanasios, are enchanted by the traditional stone houses with tiles, examples of traditional local Macedonian architecture, built of hewn stone. With the creation of the Kaimaktsalan ski resort, the village was transformed into a secular settlement, which is considered one of the most beautiful mountain settlements in Greece, with traditional guesthouses, impressive restored houses and quaint shops. Free time for lunch and walks.

Return to Edessa, overnight.
