Beautiful Rhodes 8-Hours Island Tour Including Lindos
Lindos, Rhodes Island

We start our route along the green and fertile West Coast which includes some of the most magnificent scenery of Rhodes. Visit the church dedicated to the Virgin Mary in Kremasti. After this visit, you’ll continue to the picturesque little harbor built by the Minoans of Crete at Kamiros Scala, with its fish taverns. The area is full of greenhouses and vineyards. Shortstop here for coffee or refreshments. Next, your drive continues to the Venetian Castle of Kritinia dating back to the 16th century AD  standing on a steep rock and dominates the whole area. South you come to the small, amphitheatrically built mountain village of Kritinia, with a magnificent view towards the sea. From this vantage point, you can admire the nearby Islands of Chalki, Alimia, Strongili, and Makri.

Our next stop is at the traditional mountain village of Embona, perched on the flanks of the Atavyros Mountain. This village has beautiful characteristic houses, in the genuine local architectural style, richly decorated on the inside. Visit here the local wine factory to taste some of the best wines and spirits, available on Rhodes. Due to the fame of Embona village for having the best meat on the Island,  many taverns offer excellent lunches consisting of grilled meat, Greek appetizers, and local wines.

Lunch Time

After lunch, we continue to Profitis Ilias monastery which stands on the hill, at an altitude of 650 meters, amid lush vegetation. Enjoy here the fantastic view of the surrounding wooded mountainsides. Continuing a few kilometers down the road, we arrive in Fountoukli, famous for its small church of St. Nicholas with its four apses and its beautiful wall paintings of the 14th or 15th Century AD.

Our final visit is to the ‘Jewel of the Island’ Lindos, the most attractive village on Rhodes island. Here you will enjoy a guided visit of Lindos Acropolis, which includes the Great Stoa, the Temple of Athena Lindia of the 4th century BC, the ancient theatre, and the few remains of the temple of Dionysus. The view from Lindos Acropolis, which rises shear 115m above the sea, is unique. We Continue our visit in Lindos through the picturesque medieval village, built amphitheatrically around the foot of the steep rock leading to the acropolis.

The houses with their traditional architecture and decorated floors, many dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries, leaves one with a feeling of wonder. At last, we’ll visit the 15th-century medieval church dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The church has an octagonal dome, unusual belfry, carved iconostasis, and 17th-century wall paintings.
