Breakfast is in the hotel, after which departure will be made to view the ancient site of Philippi christened in honor of the illustrious King Philip II of Macedonia one of the most significant archaeological sites in Eastern Macedonia.
One of the significant episodes in the history of Philippi happens to be the visit of the Apostle Paul, which took place between A.D. 40 and 50. Philippi became a Christian city since it was here that the Apostle laid the foundations of what was believed to be the first Christian church in Europe.
During the Byzantine era, the city walls were being rebuilt (A.D. 963-969); observation towers were erected nearby and so were the walls of the Acropolis. It was believed that Apostle Paul spent some time imprisoned within these walls. A Roman water cistern has been adapted as place of worship. Here Lydia was also converted by Saint Paul and was honored as the first Christian in Europe.

Immerse yourself in the charm of Kavala, renowned for its significant landmarks, as we enjoy ample time to uncover its hidden gems.
