Poseidon’s Secrets Unveiled

Your journey will end at the impressive Cape Sounion, where you will witness the tour’s highlight: a stunning view of the sparkling blue waters of the Aegean Sea. The main attraction at Cape Sounion is the grand Temple of Poseidon, situated on a large rock overlooking the shoreline as a tribute to the God of the Sea. Inside the temple’s ancient walls, you will be greeted by a wide view of the Athenian coastline and the beautiful Aegean Sea, where the setting sun’s colors create a mesmerizing scene.

If you are visiting with a loved one, this moment will be incredibly romantic and unforgettable. The views at Sounion has captured the hearts of poets and romantics worldwide, creating a truly special experience.

Stand in Awe at the Temple of Poseidon

The highlight of your tour awaits you at Cape Sounion, where the magnificent Temple of Poseidon stands atop the cliffs overlooking the Aegean Sea. As you approach this ancient site, you’ll be struck by the breathtaking scenery that surrounds it. The temple’s Doric columns, bathed in the golden light of the sun, create an awe-inspiring sight that will leave you speechless.

According to myth, King Aegeas was anxiously awaiting the return of his son Theseus from a dangerous mission in Crete. He watched from these very cliffs, hoping to catch a glimpse of the white sails that would signal his son’s triumphant return. Tragically, Theseus forgot to change the black sails to white, leading King Aegeas to believe that his son had perished. Overwhelmed with grief, the king threw himself into the sea, which was later named the Aegean Sea in his honor.
